Notes

Ben Chorin is writing a biography of Cpt. Duncan Campbell .  Apparently, Duncan Campbell had an illustrious military career. He was with the 84th in America during the Revolutionary War as a volunteer and ensign, with the 88th, in Buenos Aires and the Peninsula. He served in the 4th Anglo-Mysore War and was present during the attack on Seringapatam, when Tipu Sultan the Tiger of Mysore was killed. From the gravestone we know he served on the expeditionary force sent from India to Egypt in 1801 in the war against the French.
